[origin: WO2010063595A1] The invention relates to a method and to a circuit arrangement (1) for operating a domestic appliance, comprising a control device (2) for executing programs of the domestic appliance, wherein said control device can be supplied with electrical energy by a supply network through a connection (9) of the circuit arrangement (1), comprising a first electrical switch (10) through which, depending on an actuation of an operating unit (5) connected to the connection (9), the control device (2) can be coupled with the connection (9) and which can be switched from an open switching state to a closed switching state in which the first switch (10) is electrically conductive, and comprising a second electrical switch (11) which is separate from the first switch (10) and through which the control device (2) can be coupled with the connection (9), wherein the control device (2) is designed to switch the second switch (11) from an open switching state to a closed switching state in which the control device (2) is coupled with the connection (9) through the second switch (11) as soon as the first switch (10) is switched to the closed switching state.
