[origin: WO2010081694A2] The invention relates to a device (3) for connecting an electric motor drive unit (1) to a pump unit (2). The device comprises a lantern (4), which encloses mechanical connecting means for driving the pump unit (2) by the drive unit (1) and which is directly adjoined by the drive unit (1) on a face and by the pump unit (2) on the axially opposing face. On or in the lantern (4), a monitoring electronic unit (5) is arranged for detecting the operational state of the pump unit (2) and/or the drive unit (1). The invention further relates to a pump assembly having a device (3) of said kind, which connects the drive unit (1) to the pump unit (2) of the pump assembly.
