[origin: EP2377805A1] The method involves controlling a hydraulic motor (M) through a control block equipped with one or more hydraulic valves, where the hydraulic motor drives a winding drum (1). The hydraulic valves are equipped with two pressure control valves, where each pressure control valve is arranged in a flow line and a return line of the hydraulic motor. A pressure difference is adjusted at the hydraulic motor by the pressure control valves. An independent claim is also included for a winding drum, particularly for use in telescopic booms of cranes, for winding up and winding down of wires.
