[origin: EP2378063A2] The vacuum pump has a rotary piston pump (4) and a rotary screw pump (6) in the flow direction of the air. Two parallel shafts (5',5'') are provided in a common housing (1) for both pumps. The rotary piston (4') of the rotary piston pump and a screw (6') of the screw pump are arranged on the shaft and another rotary piston (4'') of the rotary piston pump and another screw (6'') of the screw pump are arranged on the pump.
