[origin: WO2010069901A1] The invention relates to a method for printing a substrate (7). In said method, ink is transferred from an ink support (3) to the substrate according to a predefined pattern by a device for applying energy (11) that applies energy to the ink through the ink support (3) without the ink support (3) and the substrate (7) touching each other. The substrate (7) is introduced into an electric field such that a homogeneous charge field is generated on the surface of the substrate (7). The invention further relates to a printing press comprising an ink support (3) which can be coated with a printing ink, and a device (11) for applying energy to the ink. Said device (11) for applying energy is disposed in such a way that the energy can be applied on the side of the ink support (3) facing away from the ink in a printing zone (9) such that ink is transferred from the ink support (3) to a substrate (7) that is to be printed within an effective range of the energy. Furthermore, in order to generate an electric field, a voltage source (19; 21) or a current source (19; 21) is provided to generate a homogeneous charge field on the surface of the substrate (7).
