The fiber cutting device has a cutting unit (10) and a back-pressure unit (12) mounted on each other for cutting a fiber (14). The back-pressure unit and cutting unit are slidably mounted in a specific direction (16,18), and are driven in a certain operating mode. The back-pressure unit and cutting unit are rotatably mounted, and are designed in a cylindrical manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for cutting fibers, particularly by using a fiber cutting device.

Die Erfindung geht aus von einer Faserschneidvorrichtung mit wenigstens einer Schneideinheit (10) und wenigstens einer Gegendruckeinheit (12), wobei zum Schneiden wenigstens einer Faser (14) zumindest eine der Einheiten (10, 12) auf der anderen Einheit (10, 12) abwälzbar gelagert ist. Es wird vorgeschlagen, dass die Gegendruckeinheit und/oder die Schneideinheit (10) in wenigstens eine Richtung (16, 18) verschiebbar gelagert und in wenigstens einem Betriebsmodus angetrieben ist.
