[origin: WO2010081587A1] The invention relates to a quenching device (1) which comprises at least one chamber (2), especially a quenching chamber and/or a flow channel. Said chamber can be filled with a quenching gas and has at least one blower wheel (9) for circulating the quenching gas. The blower wheel (9) is associated with a drive motor (15) for driving the blower, said motor being mounted outside the chamber (2). The invention is characterized in that the drive motor (15) is coupled to the blower wheel (9) via a contactless coupling so as to transmit torque. The invention further relates to a quenching method.
