[origin: EP2388149A2] The device has a low-grade paper conveyor (30) for synchronous pre-drawing of spine inlay material (5,6) from cardboard or paperboard. A cutting device (32) is provided for cutting a section of the spine inlay material as spine inlay (3). The low-grade paper conveyor pushes forward the spine inlay material transverse to the paperboard feed direction according to the spine width.
