[origin: WO2010086113A1] The invention relates to an optically variable security element for securing data media (10) into which visually recognizable markings (16, 18) are introduced by the action of laser radiation in the form of patterns, characters or a code. According to the invention, the security element has an optically variable recording layer (22) that is at least partially supplied with a surface relief in the form of a lenticular screen (26), wherein at least first and second markings (16, 18) are introduced into the optically variable recording layer (22) by way of laser radiation from different directions (30, 32) through the lenticular screen (26) and can be recognized when observed from each of said directions (30, 32).
