[origin: WO2010089155A1] The invention relates to a security feature which can be perceived visually without technical aids, to a value or security document comprising said security feature and to a method for producing the security feature and the value or security document comprising said security feature for protecting the authenticity or genuineness of a value or security document. The security feature (10) is formed by a first material layer (11) and a first coat layer (12), the first coat layer (12) having a structure and the first coat layer (12) having a refractive index that differs by at least 0.1 from the refractive index of the first material layer (11). The security feature (10) can be perceived visually without technical aids due to the refraction of electromagnetic radiation. The method of production is such that the security feature (10) can be introduced into a document while the latter is produced or can be applied subsequently to a surface of a document blank.
