The invention also relates to a control system (27) for the pile driver (10), wherein, in order to carry out a pile driver stroke upon the triggering of a free fall of the pile driver weight (14), the cable (16) is unwound from the drum with a predefinable cable length which is equal to the sum of the advancement of a previous pile driver stroke and the lifting height of the pile driver weight.
