[origin: WO2010089198A2] The invention relates to a turbomachine (T) having a compensating piston (BP) that is sealed by means of a seal (SS) with respect to a stator (ST). Conventional compensating pistons consume significant amounts of process fluid (PF), which can cause a considerable loss of efficiency. The invention provides the solution in that the stator (ST) partially carrying the seal (SS) is designed to be axially moveable in the housing (CAS) such that the permeability of the seal (SS) can be changed in this way.
