Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2010092139A2] The invention relates to a device for interpreting musical gestures or gestures controlling or serving as musical instruments. Devices of the prior art enable a user to produce music by performing gestures on an adapted instrument or accompanied by pre-recorded musical content. However, none of the devices of the prior art are reliable and robust enough to guarantee satisfactory musical rendition. The invention enables remarkable musical rendition due to the use of microsensors, in particular accelerometers and magnetometers or rate gyros, and due to the adapted processing of the signals from the microsensors. In particular, the processing uses a merging of output data from the microsensors to eliminate false alarms consisting of the movements of the user that are not related to the music. The speed of the musical strokes is also measured by the device of the invention. The invention also enables the user to control the playback of MP3 or WAV music files to be played.
