[origin: WO2010092140A2] The invention relates to a device and to a method for controlling the playback of a file of signals to be reproduced. The devices and methods of the prior art do not make it possible to control the playback of an audio file by means of the strokes of a user while guaranteeing high-quality musical rendition. The invention resolves said problem by providing a means for controlling said playback by means of strokes entered via a MIDI interface or measured by one or more motion sensors. Variations in playback speed can also be smoothed out in order to guarantee better musical rendition. The speed of the strokes can also be taken into account for controlling the volume of the audio output and other gestures or strokes can also control the tremolo or vibrato.
