The device (10) has an energy-transfer element moved between a starting position and a setting position to transfer energy to a fastening element. A drive mechanism transports the energy-transfer element from the starting position to the setting position. The energy-transfer element and the drive mechanism are arranged in a housing (20). The housing comprises two housing shells and a housing seal, where the housing seal seals one of the housing shells relative to the other housing shell. The housing seal has a seal material whose thickness differs from thickness of two materials of shells.

Gemäss einem Aspekt der Anmeldung weist eine Vorrichtung zum Eintreiben eines Befestigungselementes in einen Untergrund ein Energieübertragungselement zur Übertragung von Energie auf das Befestigungselement auf. Bevorzugt ist das Energieübertragungselement zwischen einer Ausgangsstellung und einer Setzstellung bewegbar, wobei sich das Energieübertragungselement vor einem Eintreibvorgang in der Ausgangsstellung und nach dem Eintreibvorgang in der Setzstellung befindet. Gemäss einem weiteren Aspekt der Anmeldung umfasst die Vorrichtung einen mechanischen Energiespeicher zur Speicherung von mechanischer Energie. Das Energieübertragungselement eignet sich dann bevorzugt zur Übertragung von Energie aus dem mechanischen Energiespeicher auf das Befestigungselement
