[origin: GB2467929A] A pipette 1 includes a dispensing piece 3 and a separately formed and attached bellows piece 5. The bellows piece 5 includes a bellows 13, which may comprise an axially extending concertina formation and can be provided by folds in the external walls of the bellows piece. The pipette is used to aspirate or deliver liquid. In another aspect, the pipette is configured such that liquid enters the bellows when in use. A further aspect provides for the pipette to be mounted to an automated actuating system (30, Fig. 8). The actuating system comprises a mounting plate (38, Fig. 8) for receiving a plurality of pipettes and an actuator in the form of a reciprocating plate (32, Fig. 8). The mounting plate and reciprocating plate are reciprocable relative to one another to compress or decompress the bellows of the pipette.
