Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2468193A] A blank 2 for an article of food packaging has a foldable substrate overlaid by a water-impermeable film, a webbed region 8, 8' having a gap 24 between two adjacent portions 16, 22 of substrate which overlap to form a double thickness when the blank is assembled, the gap being devoid of substrate but spanned by the water-impermeable film. The substrate may be card or board and may have a window or aperture covered by the film. The water-impermeable film may be polypropylene or a cellulose-based material. The article may be for packaging triangular cut sandwiches which are inserted through an opening in the assembled blank, a lid, which may be integral, being heat sealed over the opening. The blank may be formed by creating creases in a web of substrate, removing a portion to create the webbed region, applying the film and cutting out the blank from the web. The webbed region may be between 2cm2 and 20cm2.
