A method is presented for protecting a joint formed by at least two thermal insulation elements (1) with joint protections (21). In the method, the joint protections (21) are formed by cutting the side protection (1) of the first thermal insulation element (21) into two joint protections (21a,21b) which are attached to the second thermal insulation element (1).
