The method involves activating an electrical consumer i.e. electromotor (5) such as permanent-excited synchronous motor, by power electronics (7), and determining an actual value that represents a temperature loading of the electronics. The actual value is compared with a limit value representing maximum tolerable temperature loading of the electronics in a normal load operation. An overload operation is temporarily released with high power than in the load operation when the actual value is below the limit value. The actual value is determined depending on actual current of the consumer. An independent claim is also included for a household appliance comprising a power electronics assigned to an electrical consumer.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Haushaltsgeräts (1), insbesondere einer Geschirrspülmaschine (2), das wenigstens einen elektrischen Verbraucher (5) aufweist, wobei der elektrische Verbraucher (5) durch eine Leistungselektronik (7) angesteuert wird, mit folgenden Schritten: - Ermitteln eines die Temperaturbelastung der Leistungselektronik (7) repräsentierenden Istwerts; - Vergleichen des Istwerts mit einem die maximal ertragbare Temperaturbelastung der Leistungselektronik in einem Normallastbetrieb darstellenden Grenzwert; Dabei ist zumindest ein zeitweiliges Freigeben eines Überlastbetriebs mit einer höheren Leistung als im Normallastbetrieb, wenn der Istwert unterhalb des Grenzwerts liegt, vorgesehen.
