[origin: WO2010109000A2] The invention relates to a packaging (20) that can be designed as a paper cup (20) and to the production thereof. The packaging (20) comprises an outer surface made of composite material and having two side edges (15, 16), which are adhesively bonded to each other so as to overlap in a connection area. An outer layer of the outer surface is made from the material of a first web (11), which is coated with a second web on the side facing inward. Said second web (13) is formed into a tab (17) in the area of one of the side edges (16), said tab being laid around the side edge (16) as an edge protection. In the connection area, the following layer sequence results from the inside to the outside: second web (13), material of the first web (11), tab (17) made of the material of the second web (13), second web (13), and material of the first web (11).
