A gemstone (10) has a front, a back and a bottom. The gemstone comprises a lower pavilion (14) and an upper crown (12). The crown (12) has a top surface and a pair of depending opposed planar sides (28). The top surface of the crown has a convex shape such that the top surface arcuately runs in a lateral direction from said front to said back of said gemstone.
