[origin: WO2010112758A1] The present invention relates to a wall element for a footwell designed to be mounted in front of the driver's seat of a motor vehicle, the footwell being configured to accommodate at least one pedal (5) having a pad (51), the pedal (5) being movable between a raised position and a depressed position, the wall element comprising a footrest surface (61) in front of the intended location of the pedal pad (5), and essentially continuous with the upper surface of the pad (51) when the pedal (5) is in its depressed position, in such a way that the driver's foot is kept flat on the footrest surface (61) in the event of a frontal collision of the vehicle.
