[origin: WO2010115561A2] The invention relates to a method for cracking a charge containing hydrocarbons into shorter chained hydrocarbons in an apparatus for the production of hydrocarbons (olefin apparatus), wherein the charge containing hydrocarbons is guided into the cracking tubes of a cracking furnace (1) and the longer chain hydrocarbons of the charge are broken into shorter chained hydrocarbons thermally. The invention also relates to an apparatus for practicing said method. The cracking furnace (1) is heated by the combustion of a heating medium (2) with pure oxygen (3).
