Said method (400) also comprises a step for the transfer (420) and storage of state data from the action recorder (225) in a log book memory (260) of a data processing unit (210) independent of the action recorder (225). The method (400) also comprises a step for retrieving (430) and evaluating the state date from the monitoring unit (85) stored in the log book memory (260), said data being arranged in a spatially distant position from the data processing unit (210). Said monitoring unit (85) is designed so that state data from different machine tools can be retrieved and evaluated from a plurality of log book memories (260).
