Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2010121941A2] The invention relates to an animal shearing machine (1), comprising a housing (2), a shearing head (6) connected to the housing (2), and a drive unit (21) arranged in the housing (6). The drive unit (21) comprises an electric motor (8) and a reduction gear connected to the shaft of the electric motor (9). The shearing head (6) of the animal shearing machine (1) has a stationary shearing blade (7) and a moveable shearing blade (8). According to the invention, a planetary gear (10) is employed as a reduction gear, and the output shaft (19) of the planetary gear (10) is arranged in parallel, in particular coaxially to the shaft of the electric motor (9). If shearing heads are employed which can be driven in an oscillating manner, the drive unit comprises an eccentric (11), which is connected to the output shaft (19) of the reduction gear, and an oscillating arm (12). The oscillating arm (12) is mounted between the first front end (13) thereof and the second rear end (14) thereof about an oscillating axis (15) on the housing (2). The oscillating arm (12) is engaged with the moveable shearing blade (8) by way of the first front end (13), and with the eccentric (11) by way of a sliding element in the region of the second rear end (14).
