[origin: EP2422992A1] The method involves casing a book block (2) in a book cover (3) while maintaining a horizontal orientation of a spine (15) of a saddle plate (12), where supply of the book block to a casing-in machine (1) takes place in a feed direction different from another feed direction of the book cover. The book block is transferred from a feeder (8) to a transfer device (18) located in an upstream position. The book block is transported from a downstream position of the transfer device. The book block is accepted by the saddle plate of an endless conveyor (10) from a position of the transfer device. An independent claim is also included for a casing-in machine comprising an endless conveyor.
