[origin: EP2425973A1] The cartridge (9) has a fill level detecting device (6) attached to a pressure side arranged fill level detector such that fill level of the cartridge is detected when the cartridge is mounted, where the detector has a light transmitter and a light detector unit. A light beam interrupting element (4) is movably supported relative to the fill level detecting device, where a movement direction of the light beam interrupting element is in a range of 70 to 120 degrees between a mounting direction (8') and a demounting direction of the cartridge. An independent claim is also included for a printer comprising a retainer for retaining an ink cartridge.
