[origin: WO2010127375A1] In order to ascertain or prevent unauthorized operation of an electric load in an electric power supply grid, the invention proposes for a monitoring apparatus (1) for ascertaining a power consumption authorization of a first electric load (3) connected to an electric power supply grid (2) that the monitoring apparatus (1) comprise an apparatus (22) for recording and/or receiving first measurement data for detecting a current flow in at least one first part (5) of the electric power supply grid (2), that the monitoring apparatus (1) comprise at least one first communication unit (6) for polling and receiving an identifier of the first electric load (3), and that the monitoring apparatus (1) further comprise a comparison unit (7) for comparing a received identifier to at least one stored first reference identifier.
