[origin: WO2010130548A1] Ironing device (2), in particular an electric steam iron or an iron of an electric steam ironing station, comprising: a soleplate (4) having a soleplate tip (6); a housing (8) which is arranged above the soleplate (4) and has a handle (12) and a housing nose (10) which tapers toward the soleplate tip (6); and a spray nozzle (14) for optionally spraying items to be ironed with evaporation liquid; wherein the housing nose (10) is stepped and has a first front step (S1), which forms a housing tip that is assigned to the soleplate tip (6), and a second rear step (S2), which adjoins the first step (S1) over a shoulder (S), which forms an end wall (16) facing the soleplate tip (6); and the spray nozzle (14) is arranged in the end wall (16) of the shoulder (S) and vertically spaced apart from the adjacent surface of the first step (S1).
