Abstract (en)

[origin: EP2439722A1] The method involves tapping safety-relevant pixel-formatted display data (32) before a screen (14) of a display device (10). The data are converted into safety-relevant compressed display data (48) in a controller (38). A reference data set (52) with predefined safety-relevant compressed reference display data (54) is stored in a memory (50) of the controller. The compressed reference display data and compressed display data are compared with each other, and mismatch of the compressed reference data and compressed display data is displayed at the display device to a user by a signal (68). The pixel-formatted display data i.e. serial low voltage differential signal (LVDS) data, is converted into parallel video data i.e. red, green and blue (RGB) color space with color depth of 18 bit or 24 bit. Signal lamps i.e. LEDs, are attached at the screen.
