[origin: WO2010146037A2] The invention relates to a connecting element (1) for connecting at least two end segments (2A, 3A) of a laminar filter medium (2, 3), having at least three legs (1A, 1B, 1C), wherein each end segment (2A, 2B) can be fed between two legs (1A, 1B, 1C). The leg material can be bonded to the material of the filter medium (2) by the effect of heat. The connecting element (1) can be used in a filter element (4) and particularly a filter device (5), such as an operating medium filter for a motor vehicle, for example. A method for connecting at least two end segments (2A, 3A) of a laminar filter medium (2, 3) provides that the end segments (2A, 3A) are each inserted between two legs (1A, 1B, 1C) of a corresponding connecting element (1) and the leg material and the material of the filter medium (1) are bonded to each other by heating.
