[origin: EP2267102A1] The method involves quenching of synthesis gas at a temperature and pressure. The gas is subsequently quenched at another pressure and temperature that is lower than the former temperature. The twice-quenched gas is scrubbed in an oil scrubber (311) at a scrubbing temperature that is in the range of the latter temperature, where the loaded scrubbing oil taken off from the scrubber is thermally regenerated and subsequently recycled in a cooled state to the scrubber. The quenched and scrubbed gas is purified in a catalyst-doped adsorption stage and the purified gas is fed for refining process. An independent claim is also included for a system for treating gas obtained during gasification of biomass, comprising an oil scrubber.
