[origin: EP2447171A1] The machine (1) has a longitudinal cutting station (5), and a transverse cutting station (4) comprising a punching device for separating a strip section from a lower foil (8) and/or an upper foil (10) by using a die cutter. The punching device is aligned transverse to a transport direction (R) of the foils. The transverse cutting station has a retaining container for retaining the strip section above the lower foil and/or the upper foil. The transverse cutting station has a slider that is moved in the container for temporarily supporting a part of the strip section. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a deep-drawing packaging machine.
