[origin: EP2449896A1] The device (18) has a filter strand path along which a filter strand (12) is movable towards a cover device (22) in a direction of a longitudinal extension of the strand. The cover device covers the filter strand with a filter tow strip (16). The tow strip is movable towards the cover device in a direction of longitudinal extension along a tow guide path. One of three cut surfaces (18a, 18b, 22a) is arranged downstream to the cover device for connection to an inlet-sided cut surface (34a) of a filter strand manufacturing machine (34) that is provided for processing the tow strip.
