[origin: WO2011003120A1] The invention relates to a face milling cutter (1) for machining a bearing area of a crankshaft, in particular a crankshaft of a marine engine, comprising a main body (2) having an end face (3) and several cutting plates (4), which are designed for turn-milling and are arranged on or in the end face (3). In order to achieve favorable material removal conditions for small cutting forces and thus low tool loading, the cutting plates (4) each have at least one cutting edge, which comprises areas active in cutting and areas not active in cutting in alternation.
