[origin: WO2011006149A1] A folding guitar comprises a body and neck. A hinge connects body to neck and is disposed on one side of body and neck.A latch plate is secured to one side and a catch member is secured to other side. The catch member defines a catch member catch surface. A latch arm is pivotalIy mounted to latch plate. A hitch arm is pivotally mounted to latch arm. A securement member mounted on hitch arm is configured to engage catch member catch surface. The latch arm, hitch arm and latch plate vary the distance between securement member and catch member catch surface A hinge receiving pocket is cut into neck A first hole is drilled into the base of guitar neck for a neck securement and a second hole to receive an alignment mechanism. The pocket, first hole and second hole are divided after a finger board has been secured.
