Abstract (en)
Rail follower apparatus for a stair lift having a single rail. Two rail followers (1, 2) are connected to each other by a linkage (6), each rail follower (1, 2) being connected to the linkage (6) by a joint having multiple degrees of freedom. The rotational axis (31, 32) of each of the rotational degrees of freedom intersects with or passes close to the traction zone (52) where the drive wheel (23) contacts the toothed track (4). The turning moments required to keep the followers aligned with the rail are thereby reduced to a minimum.
