The device (100) has an operating member (120) i.e. turning knob, for actuating a closing cylinder (110) i.e. DINprofile cylinder, which comprises an actuator unit (114) for actuating a closing member (112). The operating member has a primary control device (122) for controlling the actuator unit. The closing cylinder comprises a drilling guard unit (116) at an end region (110a) that faces the operating member. An electrical connection unit (130) i.e. multi-wired cable, connects the primary control device with the actuator unit using the drilling guard unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a closing device.
