Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2471918A] A surface treating head comprises a main body (112, fig 9), a suction cavity 120 in the main body (112, fig 9) comprising first and second suction channels 122, 124, each of which is bounded on one side by a working edge 142, 144, an air duct 148 interposed between the first and second suction channels 122, 124 for conveying air towards the working edges 142, 144, a brush unit 190 and a drive mechanism (200, fig 15a, 15b) for moving the brush unit 190 between a stowed position in which the air duct 148 is open to the atmosphere and a deployed position in which the air duct 148 is closed. The drive mechanism (200, fig 15a, 15b) includes a pressure chamber (202, fig 15a, 15b) and means (218, fig 15a, 15b) for varying the pressure within the chamber (202, fig 15a, 15b) with the brush unit 190 being arranged to move between a stowed position and the deployed position depending on the pressure in the chamber (202, fig 15a, 15b).
