Cylinder head comprises an aluminum alloy of aluminum and alloying elements, where the cylinder head is heat treated by T6 or T7, where the aluminum alloy, in addition to aluminum and unavoidable impurities comprises silicon (6-12 wt.%), iron (less than 0.5 wt.%), copper (0.0015-3 wt.%), manganese (less than 0.4 wt.%), magnesium (0.05-1 wt.%), zinc (less than 0.4 wt.%), boron (0.0005-0.025 wt.%), and titanium and zirconium (less than 0.008 wt.%), each based on the alloy, as alloying elements.

Vorgeschlagen wird ein Zylinderkopf für Verbrennungsmotoren aus einer Aluminiumlegierung aus Aluminium und Legierungselementen. Der Zylinderkopf ist gemäß dem verbreiteten T6- oder T7-Standard wärmebehandelt, die Aluminiumlegierung weist Legierungselemente mit Si von 6 bis 12 Gew.-%, Fe kleiner 0,5 Gew.-%, Cu von 0,0015 bis 3 Gew.-%, Mn kleiner 0,4 Gew.-%, Mg von 0,05 bis 1 Gew.-%, Zn kleiner 0,4 Gew.-%, B von 0,0005 bis 0,025 Gew.-% sowie Ti und Zr in Addition kleiner 0,008 Gew.-% auf. Durch diese Maßnahmen lässt sich ein Zylinderkopf für Verbrennungsmotoren aus einer Aluminiumlegierung herstellen, die besser an die steigenden Anforderungen an einen Zylinderkopf angepasst ist.
