[origin: EP2457672A1] The device (1) has a frame (4) connected with a press table (23), and a wedge thrust gearbox (5) for adjusting retaining force exerted on a plunger of a press. The gearbox is driven by a linear-electric motor, where the retaining force is controlled by controlling the electrical motor during the press stroke. The electric motor has a stator and a rotor, where the stator is connected with the frame. The rotor is connected with a wedge, and a pressure flange has a bolt (7) that is driven in a vertical direction by the gearbox, where the bolt projects from an upper side of the table.
