Next, a test is made as to whether the distance (a) exceeds a predefinable threshold value, and finally, a warning signal is output and/or the vehicle (1) is decelerated if the result of the test is positive. Moreover, a central processing unit (4) for a corresponding driver assistance system and a driver assistance system are specified.
