[origin: WO2011013093A1] The present invention relates to an assembly, comprising: a variable-frequency drive (3); a synchronous electric machine (2) comprising a rotor and a stator; and a switching system (4) configured so as to electrically connect the synchronous electric machine (2) to a power grid (100), the stator comprising a main electrical winding (16) connected to the switching system such that power is supplied thereto by the grid (100), and an auxiliary electrical winding (17) connected to a variable-frequency drive (3), the switching system (4) being arranged so as to connect the main electrical winding (16) to the grid (100) when said winding has a voltage, frequency, and/or phase close to the voltage, frequency, and/or phase of the grid (100).
