Abstract (en)
[origin: WO2011014968A1] The invention relates to a folding assembly and a method for folding products (10), in particular printed products. The device comprises a conveying apparatus for conveying the products (10) to be folded as an overlapping stream in a conveying direction (F1), which corresponds to the folding direction, an erecting unit, and a pressing unit. The erecting unit has guide surfaces for the product parts (10a, 10b) on both sides of the fold (12) to be produced, the guide surfaces being arranged in a V shape and including an angle that is reduced in the conveying direction. The products (10) are thereby folded in the area of the fold (12) to be produced. The pressing unit presses the product parts toward each other in the area of the fold (12) to be produced and fixes the previously produced crease to form the fold. The orientation of the guide surfaces is designed to match the incoming overlapping formation (S2) in such a way that when running through the erecting unit, the products (10) enclose the leading edges (13) of the following product (10) between the product parts (10a, 10b) of said products. Thus, the products (10) are partially arranged in the respective preceding product (10) when said products run through the pressing unit and after said products are folded. The invention enables the processing of an incoming overlapping formation (S2) directly after the outlet of a rotary printing press without relocating said overlapping formation.
