[origin: WO2011018062A1] The invention relates to a gripper head (1) of a weaving machine, comprising a clamping device (2) for a band-shaped weft material (8) to be inserted into a shed of the weaving machine. The clamping device (2) comprises a stationary clamping jaw (3) and a clamping jaw (4) that is loaded by a spring (5) and movable about a rotational axis (6), each clamping jaw having a clamping surface (7), wherein the movable clamping jaw (4) can be activated by a control means (9) in order to open the clamping device (2). The gripper head (1) comprises a frame (10), wherein the clamping surfaces (7) are arranged substantially outside of the frame (10) and the spring (5) and the rotational axis (6) are arranged inside the frame (10).
