The on-board information system (1) comprises a housing (2) arranged with a computing unit and one memory unit. The housing has a movable support (17) provided with a data interface for another memory unit that transfers data to the computing unit. The movable support is provided with a retainer that is formed with an aperture (19) for receiving another memory unit. An independent claim is included for method for extending storage capacity of on-board information system.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Bordinformationssystem (1) für Fahrzeuge, umfassend ein Gehäuse (2), in dem eine Recheneinheit (3) und ein erster Massenspeicher (4) angeordnet und zur Datenübertragung miteinander verbundenen sind, wobei das System (1) einen zumindest teilweise aus dem Gehäuse (2) heraus bewegbaren Träger (17) umfasst, der eine Datenschnittstelle (10) für einen zweiten Massenspeicher (11) aufweist, die zur Datenübertragung mit der Recheneinheit (3) verbunden ist.
