[origin: EP2468106A1] The device (1) has a housing having a flow passage and an inlet and an outlet for pasty materials. The manifold comprises a piston equipped with multiple baffles. The piston is movable in a section of the flow channel against and with the flow direction to adjust an effective length of the piston in the flow channel. An independent claim is also included for a method for distributing residual air in pasty materials, particularly for manufacturing sausages.
