[origin: EP1974917A2] A strip of transfer foil is made available as first (14) and second (15) rolls of foil on a shaft (102) fitted so as to be exchanged with an exchange device that has a detachable supporting unit (100) for supporting the shaft. A guiding element (200) guides the detachable supporting unit safely into an area on a transfer device. At the side, the detachable supporting unit has guide rollers (105) to lock into guiding elements. An independent claim is also included for a method for transferring a shaft with rolls of foil into a device for transferring a transfer layer from a strip of transfer foil.
