[origin: EP2469103A2] The hydraulic drive has a variable displacement pump (2) driven by a hydraulic motor (4). The pressure medium is conveyed from the variable displacement pump through an inlet line (8) into an inflow port of the motor, and is returned to a tank (T) through a return line (10). A brake valve (16) is arranged in the return line, and is actuated in opening direction through an inlet pressure controlled by a continuously variable control valve (54).
