[origin: EP2472999A1] The cooking hob (110) has a heating element (207) and a control element (155) for inputting a control parameter (215) for heating element in a cooking zone (115). A protection device (210) modifies the control parameter and outputs a modified control parameter (230) to the heating element so as to control the temperature of the heating element to a defined maximum temperature, and/or the gradient of heating element to a defined temporal temperature gradient.
